Nixon.

Name: Nixon/Nix
Bday: June 24, 2012
Age: 7 weeks, 2 days
Adopted: August 10, 2012

Never try to "just look" at a puppy, because he'll end up coming home with you.

Night one: Bought puppy at 11pm and took him home. At first it was a breeze. Until he woke up at 3. Then it got rough...puppy didn't want to let us sleep at all. Slept on the floor off and on all night to try and calm him down.
Day one: Not too shabby (other than us being really tired). We finally decided on a name during church. Met all the grandparents and the other dogs. Only a few little accidents.
Night two: I slept on the floor next to him all night. Woke up to go out at 1, 3, 5, and at 6:30am he was up and ready to play.
Day two: Spent the morning with Dee, had two accidents :(. But later we went to Tanner Park with Nike and Melissa. It was so fun but a little too far for Nix and he had to be carried a lot of the way. He loved the water though and was a very sleepy puppy after. Dee bought him lots of fun things from the pet store. Spoiled puppy.
We had a wedding to go to at 7, we decided to put him in a bigger crate so he would be more comfortable. Not a good idea. He had an accident in the crate. That's what we get for leaving him i guess. Nix met some of our friends and cuddled up with me for a quiet night.
Night three: We went to bed late (2am) so we took him out before bed and he slept until 6:30!! It was so awesome! Then I thought I'd test my luck and put him back to bed and he slept again until 7:45am. It was so nice to actually sleep in my bed again.
Day three: Nix hung out with Dee all morning and is with me all day. Had one accident when I first got home but has been doing great. Been kind of a lazy puppy sort of day.

We are working on potty training and getting him to sleep without crying. He's a super smart dog and we just think he's the cutest!! Can't wait to see what happens next...hope he learns things quickly! It's hard work keeping an eye on him ALL the time. But we love him like crazy. I mean, how could you not?!

What he did when we first brought him home

First bath

He sleeps in the weirdest places

Favorite toy: water/gatorade bottles

He liked the water :)

Official

It's official. I am now Sydney Evans according to everything (ok ok, except my passport). But it feels good to finally have it done! Only took me 7 months...yikes.

This has been one busy, stressful week for both of us. So how are we going to reward ourselves?
A wonderful weekend getaway to the ranch!
No phones, no internet, no work, no school (unless Dee has to do some hw that I don't know about yet). This will be our first time going as a married couple and I can't even wait!! Hopefully there will be pics to come if I can convince my sweet husband to agree.

And then on Tuesday it's Dee's birthday!! Woohoo!

What am I getting myself into?

Today I am attempting to create a new piece of art for our home. These pictures are my inspiration...Who knows how well this will turn out.
Updates to come.

10 pennies

A penny for your thoughts? Ok, how bout ten.

1) THE JAZZ ARE IN THE PLAY OFFS!!! HECK YES!! This was huge news at our house considering we have only missed 3 games all season.

2) We had an awesome meeting from our Bishopric last night. They are freaking hilarious! I'd be happy having them come over to visit whenever.

3) Made sticky fingers again. It's so yummy, definitely good game watching food!

4) Our fence is finally getting fixed so maybe...okay, BIG MAYBE...we can get a dog? I just wish dogs (along with everything else) weren't so expensive!! I hate money.

5) Yard work sucks. It's so time consuming and hard! The one good thing is that it has instant gratification. Love that. Now the dandelions need to die so it'll stop looking like nobody lives here.

6) I LOVE the warm weather we have had recently, even if it's going to be cold this weekend...That's okay!
I can't wait to have BBQ's, play tennis in the back yard, have bonfires, walk over to our grandparents and go swimming, go to the ranch, etc. Summer, I am ready for ya.

7) BodyCombat! I have always kind of hated going to the gym...until this class. It's pretty much awesome! Straight cardio for an hour and it's also fun!! Way better than BodyPump. I go twice a week and totally look forward to it. Weird right? Love it.  Anyone who wants to come join me is welcome.

8) Finals are next week. Yikes.

9) Nothing is ever finished. The house can always be cleaner, there's always laundry or dishes to be done, the yard can always look better, we always need to buy something or fix something...you get the gist. But ya know what? It's okay!! I'd rather have stuff not be perfect and be able to spend time with my husband or still have my sanity.
I forget this a lot and get overwhelmed sometimes, but today is a good day.

10) Even if it drives me bonkers and can be stressful, I love my life and wouldn't change right now for anything. Because this is what I wanted. Even when a bad day hits, I am living every day with my best friend and eternal companion. Together we are building our life to be what we want it to be. That makes it all worth it.

What a girl wants

With finals just around the corner, my teachers all decided to have a bunch of stuff due this week. It's been pretty bearable due to my procrastination. But now that it is crunch time all i want is a DR.PEPPER!!!
I've been trying so hard to only have soda every once in a while but holy hannah i need one right now. Don't know what it is about this sugary goodness straight from a freezing cold can, but it just hits the spot.
The whole "I'm gonna be healthier and not drink soda" thing was a
BAD CHOICE

Finally!!

Today I got my graduation application for Fall 2012.
It only took going to 3 different colleges, 5 years, and WAYYY too much money. But it's actually happening!!
My major changed from Human Development BA to Human Development BS Family Life Education. (It might not seem like a difference, but i promise it is)
This fall semester I have to do an internship. Then another class after graduation and 3,200 service hours in order to get my CFLE certification. It's a lot but it'll be so worth it to have a career I love!
Overall:
no summer classes, graduating in December, walking next May, and having a degree I'm actually excited about...not too shabby.

Now Dee just has to graduate.......only like 4 more years

Homework? Blog.

Yesterday
- Survived yet another day of BodyPump!! It's starting to become more enjoyable but my legs still hate me for it.
- Moved my closet (one of the perks of having too many rooms) and finally put away 3 of the 7 laundry baskets of clothes we have lying around. I have too many clothes yet I don't like most of them anymore. Definitely need new ones.
- Made Wingers sticky fingers!! SUPER easy and wayyyyy cheaper than going to Wingers itself. AND they got a 9 out of 10 from the hubs!
Cooking is slowly starting to not be my nemesis.
- Sadly, the Jazz lost...but it was a good game.
- Repainted my nails 3 times while Dee was at the Library.
- Looked at dogs on KSL shhhhh don't tell

Today and Weekend
-  Homework and work
- Put away 4 remaining laundry baskets
- Mission Reunion
- Cuddle up and watch Conference (Saturday & Sunday)
- Go to the gym
- Do a craft while Dee is at the Priesthood session
- Finally meet Nike Baucom!!!
And also get to hang out with Melissa and Bryan of course :)
- Family dinner and hanging out

And I just have to say how proud I am of my amazing husband. He has gotten A's on the last 3 tests he has gotten back!! Love him.

A weekend ending in Jello

Weekends aren't really relaxing and fun as they once were. Friday I had work until 6, then a killer midterm at 7. Luckily we got to watch the Jazz game after that which was nice. Cuddling up with my man watching the game is the best...don't think we've missed one this season until tonight :( Dee has to work on a project at the library every night this week. Such a bummer.
Saturday is all about running errands and trying to get the stuff done that there's simply no time for during the week. BUT we did get to see HUNGER GAMES!! I thought it was so good! There are way too many critics out there, but I thought they did a great job given how many details are in the book and still keeping it PG-13. I am Team Peeta allllll the way!! Love him. Now I kind of want to re-read the books...hmmm...maybe this summer when I have a little more time.
Sundays start with a scramble to get to church on time but Sunday mornings are Dee's musical days. So as I get ready for church I get to hear him singing random songs about whatever pops into his head. He's such a dork but it's very entertaining. Then we plan our lessons in Sacrament meeting (one of the perks of teaching 4 year olds...doesn't take a lot of preparation). After church we come home, I take a nap, and then it's off to one of the parental's house for dinner and last but not least Grandma and Grandpa Evans house. That is probably my favorite part.
Next is today - Dreaded Monday.
I try to go to the gym at least twice a week because Dee goes like 4 or 5 times and I feel like a slacker. But today I decided to do something different.
BodyPump
This class killed me!! My legs were shaking and turning into jello half way through!! Thankfully, a very nice woman in her late 50's was able to help me survive. Definitely an ego booster lemme tell ya. But as if that wasn't bad enough!! This Asian guy knew I was a first timer so the entire time he would look over and start laughing at me!! Ego booster #2. And he kept calling me "new girl".
"Hey new girl, you alive?" "Hey new girl, you make funny facial expressions." Ego booster #3. Well Mr. Creepy Man, I'm sorry that when I feel like I'm going to collapse and die that I'm not sitting there smiling! I'll DEFINITELY work on that. Nope, my face shows exactly how I'm feeling. Kind of a blessing, kind of a curse.
Currently, it's been 2.5 hours and jello legs are still in effect. Can't even imagine how the next couple days are going to be. But as hard as it was, I can't wait to do it again!! Now if only I could find someone to go with me.
Next adventure to try...BodyCombat!

On the radar

Over the weekend we had an awesome date day. And after having been sick the whole long weekend, it was nice to spend time just me and my man.
Friday we went to the gym and then had a cozy night in and watched Water For Elephants. It was surprisingly good!!
Then Saturday we woke up early...way too early for Dee...and got all bundled up in our snow gear. Rented gear for Dee. And headed up to Brighton. It was super windy and snowing which was way cold but it made for awesome powder. It was so fun to finally go boarding with Dee! He hadn't been in 6 years!! But you couldn't even tell. He's a champ...why does he have to be so good at everything?
After a few hours up on the slopes we headed home to get ready for part 2 of our day. Courtside floor seats to the Utah Basketball game!! We had pretty low expectations but they actually won!! It was a close game which made it that much more fun! Plus, I loved the people watching.

Then after the game, Dee left me to go to Sean's bachelor party. Honestly I was beat and was so totally okay with curling up on the couch and watching Chopped (latest obsession).  When Dee got home we watched the Dunk Competition highlights and went to bed.

Next comes Sunday. We finally got on the radar.  For the last 4 months no one in the ward really knew who we were. This worked for us! We never had to speak or say prayers or anything! Then it happened. During sacrament meeting it was announced that we were being called to the Primary. We had to stand up and EVERY head turned around and looked at us. Immediately after that Dee got asked to say a prayer in Sacrament, we got asked if the Bishopbric could come over and meet with us, people introduced themselves, and we were asked if we want to speak in sacrament meeting. Luckily I said "no" so hopefully we can put that off for another few weeks. But after all that we got set apart as CTR 4 Primary teachers!! I am soooo excited about it! If we would have gotten the 10 or 11 year olds...oh man, I don't even know what we would have done. We have an adorable bunch of kids and I can't wait to teach them.
I am one lucky girl. I love my amazing husband and all he does for me. He is so sweet and caring. Marrying my best friend was the best choice I ever made. We have almost been married 5 whole months!! Can't believe it! Little notes like this absolutely make my day :)

Lovely love

Happy Valentine's Day!!
This has never been my favorite holiday because it's kind of always been a let down. But so far this one has been perfect...well minus the fact that I've only seen my husband for about 15 minutes.

We started off our Happy Hearts Day last night:
had dinner
hung out just the two of us
cuddled
watched a movie
did homework
slow danced to candle light
laughed until I cried
and enjoyed spending time with each other.

Tonight I have class until 7:30, and my dinner of choice was Arctic Circle!! I am so excited to see my sweet Valentine and spend a quiet night at home with him.

Fab-ruary

The past month has been a crazy but fun one!!  I turned 23...yikes!! It was such a fun day though. I got spoiled with a new kindle from my sweet husband so I don't have to keep lugging my books around in my purse.  Then after work my parents took us out to dinner at Ruth's Chris. DANG that place is yummy.

We've had hockey games, jazz games, going to the gym, cleaning and errand days, lazy days, sick days, busy days, late nights, early mornings, fast food and homemade meals...I actually made one that was eaten as left overs too!! It got nicknamed "chicken barf" so I'll know what to make next time. Pretty sure that name is meant with all the love in the world.

Life is fun and busy and each day of being married gets better than the one before. I can't wait for tomorrow and each day after that. We have already been married 4 months this weekend!! Time sure flies, and I've loved every second.

OOO and I am doing this thing from pinterest called FAB-AB-RUARY.  Hopefully the results start to show cuz swimsuit weather and HAWAII will be here before we know it!!!

Let it begin

After almost a month off of school, getting back into the swing of things is going to be rough.
Our juggling act for the semester includes: going to school, work, and hockey games in Provo, taking online classes, keeping the house relatively clean, spending time with each other, keeping a social life, and of course watching all the important football and basketball games.

I am SUCH a procrastinator. It's a problem. So we'll see how taking two online classes is going to go. Guess I have to learn discipline somehow! But this could maybe..potentially..possibly..be my last semester (fingers crossed). Therefore it might be worth it!

As of right now, there are only 8 weeks until Spring Break and just 16 weeks until SUMMER!! Haha those are terrible countdowns but it's a start :)

Life is good. Life is busy. Life is love. Life is right now.

A look back and a glimpse forward

2011 brought SO many fun times for us...here are just a few.
  • December/January: We were each others New Years kiss bringing in 2011.
  • January: We went to Bear Lake with our friends...and I got amazing b-day presents from Dee.
  • February: We went to the ranch together for the first time since Dee got home.
  • March: Dee connected the chicken pock scars on my forehead like connect the dots.
  • April: Started watching all of Heroes.
  • May: Started our first full summer together since we've known each other. And we hit the 3 year mark of when we met.
  • June: We went to Lake Powell.
  • July: We went to Hawaii (my first time).
  • August: We got engaged.
  • September: We planned a wedding while handling school too.
  • October: We got sealed for time and all eternity. Had an awesome wedding, followed by a wonderful get away to a 5 star hotel. Moved into our new house.
  • November: Hockey games, basketball games, football games. And of course, Thanksgiving!
  • December: First Christmas together trying to learn how to juggle all of our amazing families.

And that brings us to today.
January 1, 2012.
Dee was my New Years Kiss again...and he will be for the rest of our lives. We had a fun night of watching bareback ping pong and just hanging out with all of our favorite people. I love that we have all the same friends and can hang out together but with the people we love most too. Last year brought lots of crazy and amazing changes for us. I cannot even WAIT to see what this year brings!!
Some of my predictions are:
Hilton Head (spring break hopefully)
Hawaii
Getting a calling at church
Going to the Ranch just us
Syd graduating college and getting a better job
Getting a puppy (if i can convince Dee)
Tennis and swimming
Weddings galore
Our first anniversary
and MUCH MUCH MORE!!!!
